Who We Are

In 2008, two sophomores at Milken Community High School – came together with a bold vision: to mobilize their classmates and raise money in support of other students living halfway around the world. The Israeli city of Sderot was under siege, facing constant rocket attacks. With their classmates, they planned, promoted, and staged the school’s first student-run charity fashion show to raise funds for Sderot High School. It was a remarkable success. Major Los Angeles retailers lined up to showcase their products. National sponsors lent their support. The show generated $5,000 – and Fashion with Compassion was born.

The show became an annual event at Milken High school – and a unique platform to empower its students, build bridges between the school and the local community, and raise tens of thousands of dollars for Israeli-based charities.

Fashion with Compassion is now growing beyond the Milken campus. FWC alumni have formed a mentorship network to support the launch of new chapters across the country. The organization’s effective fundraising model, leadership program, and student-led approach have drawn national attention, recognition, and interest.
